Cristian Stellini has suggested that Antonio Conte will be back in London this week – but won’t take charge of Spurs’ clash with Sheffield United.
The Italian head coach is still recovering after having gallbladder surgery, which has seen him in and out of the Spurs dugout in recent weeks.
His right-hand man, Stellini, has picked up an impressive four wins out of four during the Italian’s absence and has welcomed the return of Tottenham’s head coach.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Stellini said: ‘I think this week he will be back. He’s not in charge for this game but our doctor [will] decide the right moment.’
Conte underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder at the start of the month, which left Stellini to take charge of Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Manchester City.

Cristian Stellini has taken charge of Spurs’ first-team during Conte’s absence this month
The Italian head coach returned for one match – which saw Spurs lose 4-1 to Leicester – before returning to Italy to continue his recovery.
Stellini has taken charge of the team for the last two matches and managed to record 2-0 wins against London rivals West Ham and Chelsea.
The 47-year-old also took charge of the first-team in October after Conte was sent off in the Champions League against Sporting Lisbon.
Tottenham managed to secure a 2-1 win away at Marseille thanks to goals from Clement Lenglet and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, despite Conte’s absence.
Spurs’ win at the weekend over Chelsea has moved them four points clear of fifth-place Newcastle, who have to games in hand.
It also moved Conte’s side 14 points above Chelsea, who have now won just twice in their past 15 games and have only managed four goals this calendar year.

The Tottenham No 2 also confirmed that there are no new injury concerns for Spurs ahead of their trip to Bramall Lane on Wednesday.
‘No fresh injuries. All the players are good. It’s normal that after two days the players need more time to recover,’ the Italian assistant confirmed.
The north London side are already coping with current injury issues with Rodrigo Bentancur, Hugo Lloris, Yves Bissouma and Ryan Sessegnon all sidelined.
Spurs travel to Bramall Lane for their FA Cup fifth-round clash with Sheffield United on Wednesday.
