Manchester United will reportedly target at least two major signings this summer to continue their momentum under Erik ten Hag.

A centre forward and further reinforcements in midfield will be United’s priority in the next transfer window, with a centre-back also potentially needed if captain Harry Maguire leaves.

United ended their six-year trophy drought by beating Newcastle United 2-0 to win the Carabao Cup at Wembley on Sunday and Ten Hag’s side remain in contention in the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Europa League this season.

But, according to the Manchester Evening News, plans are already taking shape for further strengthening of the United squad in the summer.

United are interested in the Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Tottenham’s Harry Kane, while Ten Hag is an admirer of Benfica and Portugal marksman Goncalo Ramos.

Erik ten Hag delivered Manchester United’s first trophy for six years by winning the Carabao Cup at the weekend – and plans for summer reinforcements are being drawn up

United will also pursue another midfielder, with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong (left) and Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham (right) options

The manager also believes Mohammed Kudus, who plays for his former club Ajax, also has what it takes to prosper in the Premier League.

In midfielder, Ten Hag could be open to a renewed pursuit of Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, a player he was desperate to sign last summer.

Given that Barcelona need to sell players to ease their financial issues, a second swoop for the Netherlands international could prove successful.

The United manager would also reportedly endorse a move for Borussia Dortmund and England midfielder Jude Bellingham, though the club would face stiff competition from Liverpool and other suitors.

However, any summer incomings will have to follow player sales in order for United to comply with UEFA’s financial sustainability rules.

Among those United plan to sell are Maguire, defender Alex Telles, who is currently out on loan at Sevilla, and injury-plagued forward Anthony Martial.

United are forward planning for the summer despite uncertainty over the ownership of the club.

United ended their six-year wait for a piece of silverware when they won the Carabao Cup

While the current owners, the Glazer family, invited bids for part or full control of United, reports have suggested the Americans actually wish to remain in charge.

There are two known parties who want to buy the club – an offer from Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani for full control and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe for a majority stake.

An injection of cash would help United in their pursuit of targets in the summer but players would still have to be sold first.

Ten Hag’s side return to action with an FA Cup fifth round tie against West Ham on Wednesday night.

Nigerian striker Osimhen, 24, has been one of Europe’s most prolific strikers this season as Napoli surge towards the Serie A title, scoring 21 times in all competitions.

England captain Kane, 29, has scored 20 goals this campaign for Tottenham and is one of the Premier League’s most reliable talismen.

Bellingham, 19, saw his stock rise even further following some fine performances for England at the World Cup and is wanted by Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid and others should he leave Dortmund as expected this summer.

De Jong, 25, was Ten Hag’s No 1 transfer target last summer but the player didn’t want to leave Barcelona after a fee was agreed.
