Sometime back, Kohli had told the media that Dhoni was the only senior cricketer left when he announced to step down from Test captaincy. Kohli had bragged about how other former cricketers have many opinions and insights on his batting but have no desire to reach out to him in this bad phase. Last year before the Asia Cup, Kohli went through a difficult phase in which he did not want to touch the bat. He took a month’s break from all cricket and kept himself away from the game.

On his return, he scored his first international ton in 3 years and his first T20I century as Kohli fell in love with the game all over again. Kohli mentioned during the podcast that a message from Dhoni kept him positive during his tough days. He also said that MSD is most likely ignoring your phone calls because he rarely touches his phone at home. But admitted that he will definitely contact you later. Kohli shared one such rare instance when Dhoni gave him a message to deal with failures.
“He reached out to me and you can hardly ever contact him. If I call him on any given day, 99 percent he won’t pick up (the phone), because he just doesn’t look at the phone.
