Brodie Grundy has opened up about being traded by Collingwood for the Dees at an exclusive event for Stan’s new AFL documentary Show Me The Money II.
The AFL star, 28, told media while 2022 was a ‘difficult’ year for the Magpies he still had a great time with them, and added his trade with the Dees left him optimistic about the future.
‘I’m focusing on enjoying the rest of my career in Melbourne. If I can do that I can be satisfied and that’s really important,’ he said.
The Adelaide native said he was blown away by how well the Dees management took care of their players from behind the scenes.
‘I’ve been really impressed with Melbourne’s attention to detail, culture of excellence and work ethic. There’s certainly been no outs for me this pre-season.

Brodie led a panel of current AFL players, management and film crew to talk about Stan’s gripping new AFL documentary Show Me The Money II, which provides viewers with never-before-seen insight into the AFL’s turbulent trade period.
He was joined by Robbie D’Orazio, fellow Dees trade Josh Schache, player-turned-manager David Trotter, player manager Colin Young and doco director Michael Venables.
Grundy told the audience his decision to sign with Melbourne was made much easier due to their open and accepting values.

‘I had some really honest and transparent conversations and learned about Melbourne and what they stand for. It was something that really appealed to me.’
D’Orazio then said the trade season was particularly difficult for Grundy, whose move to Melbourne robbed him of the chance to win a Collingwood Premiership.
‘Understand that Brodie loves the Magpies. He loves the game and players and lost the Grand Final in 2018 by under a kick.

Show Me The Money II is an eye-opening new behind-the-scenes documentary which uncovers the high-stakes, high-stress plotting behind the AFL’s ‘silly season’ trade period – and some of the game’s biggest stars are front and centre.
The league’s free agency window ran from September to early October last year, with 34 players traded in a frenzy of no-holds-barred wheeling and dealing by the sport’s toughest managers.
It’s all been captured by Stan’s new Show Me The Money II documentary, which followed all the plotting, scheming and conflict – with full access to managers and stars on the final ‘Deadline Day’.

A recently released trailer gives a startling insight into how the player agents play hardball, with their ruthlessness leaving at least one footy star stunned.
At one stage Robbie D’Orazio of Connors Sports doesn’t hold back as he gives it to an unknown person on the phone.
‘So whoever’s telling you, tell them to shut their mouth or call me,’ he says, prompting incredulous Melbourne Demons star Brodie Grundy to comment, ‘I hope you don’t speak to me like that.’
Show Me The Money II premieres on Thursday, February 23 only on Stan.
