Cyclist who was allegedly knocked over by Glenn Archer’s truck claims the AFL legend has NOT received a direct apology: ‘Man up and own your errors’
A cyclist who was hopsitalised for two days after being hit by a truck allegedly driven by Glenn Archer claims he is yet to receive a direct apology from the AFL great.
Mark Vander, 58, broke three ribs while taking damage to a bone in his knee and four neck vertebrae last month when he was knocked off his bike on Rosanna Road, Heidelberg.
North Melbourne legend Archer has been charged with careless driving and failing to keep a safe distance when overtaking but insists he had no idea that he hit a cyclist at the time.
Archer issued a public apology on Tuesday but Vander has since claimed that the 49-year-old only reached out to him three weeks after the incident and has not made an apology.
By the time Archer had got in touch, video footage of the incident obtained by a dashcam had garnered more than 200,000 views on social media.

Glenn Archer apologised publicly on Tuesday but has been blasted by Vander
‘I got an unsigned email from the company to say the ‘driver has seen the footage, can he call you?’ ‘ he told News Corp.
Vander says the email was ‘totally disingenuous’ and did not contain an apology.
‘The time to call me was in the days after the accident when you found out you had run me over,’ he said.
However, two-time premiership winner Archer has hit back and claimed Vander called his workplace demanding a huge sum of money just two days after the incident. He initially thought it was a scam.
‘He has sent personal letters to my house, I’m not sure how he got my personal home address,’ Archer said.
Archer says Vander had received insurance money.
Archer says that his workplace were asked to pay Vander $33,000 two days after the incident
‘Two days after the event he was ringing the office screaming and yelling at the owner and the office girl saying ‘one of your trucks has knocked me off my bike’.’
‘Every conversation, email and letter has been about money. You need to send me $33,000.’
However, Vander says he wants Archer to accept responsibility for his alleged actions.
‘I would just tell him to man up and own his errors and, you know, show some remorse,’ he said.
‘He hasn’t faced the music at all.’
