NASCAR team owner Michael Jordan joins a star-studded gathering at Daytona 500 with Pete Davidson, Tiffany Haddish and Charlotte Flair on hand for stockcar racing’s top event
Michael Jordan was among a host of celebrities pictured at the Daytona 500, with the six-time NBA Champion on hand to support of his other sports organization, 23XI Racing.
Jordan co-owns the racing organization with Joe Gibbs racing driver, Denny Hamlin, a minority partner.
He was joined in Daytona Beach by comedians Pete Davidson and Tiffany Haddish, former NFL star Brandon Marshall, WWE women’s champion Charlotte Flair and actress Chase Sui.
Jordan launched a new NASCAR team with Bubba Wallace, the only full-time black driver on the circuit, back in 2020.
‘Historically, NASCAR has struggled with diversity and there have been few black owners,’ Jordan said in a statement at the time.

‘The timing seemed perfect as NASCAR is evolving and embracing social change more and more.’
He is currently one of four black owners in the stockcar racing circuit, one of whom is boxing great Floyd Mayweather. Naturally, ‘Money May’ heads up The Money Team Racing.
Tyler Reddick and famed stuntman, Travis Pastrana, are the two other drivers on Jordan’s 23XI Racing roster.
Unfortunately for Jordan and Co., Reddick was part of a wreckage late in Stage 2 of Sunday’s race and was resultantly ruled out for the day.
Jordan isn’t the only NASCAR owner from the Tar Heel State, with former UNC basketball stud, Brad Daugherty a co-owner of JTG Daugherty Racing.
The North Carolina native dabbled in racing before with Michael Jordan Motorsports. He owned an AMA Superbike team and had one win in 10 years.
Jordan has twice traveled to the NASCAR season finale to watch Hamlin race for the championship. Hamlin, who’s 39, is still seeking his first title.
He became a partial owner of the NBA’s then-Charlotte Bobcats in 2006 and bought the team outright in 2010, restoring the franchise to its original Hornets name. Hamlin has been a longtime season-ticket holder with court-side seats along the visitors’ bench.
